DVF Love

Hey ya'll! How was your Tuesday? Is it just me or is this week going by super slow? Anyway, so lately with my looming college graduation, I have been obsessed with building my professional wardrobe. And something feeding that obsession is a fabulous woman by the name of Diane Von Furstenberg. It has always been my dream to own one of her beautiful wrap dresses. So, I've been browsing the DVF website thinking that I might finally treat myself to a dress for graduation. Yes it may take most of my lowly, part-time intern paycheck (I'm finally getting a paycheck!) but I think it's worth it!! Problem is, I can't choose just one! Some of my favs:
 Julian Wrap dress in black

Linda Wrap dress in Bug Shell Blue

Festiva Wrap dress in Wild Quail

Marchmont Wrap dress in Wild Quail

And of course my love doesn't just end at wrap dresses:
Baby Bis Black Pants

Della dress

*Sigh*

A girl can at least dream right?  :)

Weekend re-cap: Hogs game and pumpkin carving

Well Monday is upon us again. It's rainy and gloomy hear today so I'm working from home. By working I mean trying to figure out why my computer has been having so many problems connecting to the program my online class runs off of. The class I'm taking is actually through Texas A&M not UCA so I've been on the phone with their IT department all morning. Hopefully we have the problem solved and I can get on with this class.
Anyway, how was ya'lls weekend? Ours was pretty good! We seriously went to bed at like 8:30 Friday night because we were leaving for Fayetteville at 6 am on Sat. (which meant I had to get up at 4 to work out and get ready) We had a great time at the game! The first half we stayed pretty dry, but during the second half there were a few rain delays. Luckily my parents have parking right next to the stadium so we just ran to the car during the first rain delay instead of staying under the stadium. After awhile we just decided to go watch the rest of the game from a restaurant on Dickson. Anyway, the Hogs beat Ole Miss!! Despite the rain, we had so much fun!

We came back to Conway after the game Saturday. And I was in bed by 9:30 that night!
Sunday, we got up and did our usual breakfast date at Panera. Then we drove around to look at a few houses that we were interested in. We spent the afternoon laying around and watching the Ghost Adventures marathon on the Travel Channel :) I decided to go watch Gabe's soccer game in North Little Rock even though it looked stormy outside. We had planned to go to Little Rock after his game to make a trip to Whole Foods. (Conway doesn't have very good grocery store choices). The minute we pulled up to the soccer field, it started lightening. I told Gabe I would stay in the truck while they were warming up because I didn't want to get out in the lightening. Well as soon as Gabe walked across the field the tornado sirens started going off!! Of course I freak out and start yelling at Gabe that we needed to go NOW! Well my smarty pants fiance decides we'll still drive to Little Rock (where the tornado's are!) to get groceries. I keep telling him to turn around and go back to Conway and he finally pulled over in Maumelle (where my dad and step-mom live) when it started hailing and we saw a funnel cloud. We rode out the rest of the storm at my parents and ended up going back to Conway without groceries.
It was just gross weather the rest of the night so we decided it was the perfect time to carve our pumpkin. I wanted our pumpkin to look like Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas

I think he turned out pretty good! Anyway I hope ya'll are having a good Monday!

Friday, October 22, 2010

It's been a long week. And I have somehow injured my back so I now walk around like an 80 year old woman. You would think being out of school and not working much would make for a great week. Wrong. This has probably been one of the most stressful weeks of my life. I won't get in to it all because it would be boring to ya'll. Just school drama. Hopefully it's all fixed now and I'm going to enjoy my Friday off. I'm getting a mani/pedi this afternoon and going to bed VERY early. We're leaving for Fayetteville at 6 am tomorrow. Yikes! The Arkansas/ Ole Miss game starts at 11:30 so we have to get up there bright and early. (it's about a 3 hour drive). I hope all of ya'll had a better week than I did! And have a fabulous weekend! Go Hogs!!

Product Review- Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Facial Mask

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It's rainy and cool here in central Arkansas today. Luckily, I'm out of school today so I'm cuddled up on the couch with my hot mug of green tea watching Kathy Lee and Hoda don't judge me listening to it rain. So I of course have another product review for ya'll. Do ya'll get tired of these? I've started to wonder how much extra money I would have if I wasn't such a product junkie. But do I care? No, not really. I love trying new stuff way too much! So on to the review!

Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Facial Mask
What they say:
"Going green isn't just a trend, it's an important way of life! And what better way to start going green, than with something everyone will recognize - your beautiful face! Our Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Mask gives your tired skin that gentle moisture boost you've been searching for, leaving your sensitive skin soft, silky, and polished to perfection!"

• 99.6% Natural
• Dead Sea Minerals
• Petroleum, SLS & Paraben Free
  • For: Sensitive Skin
  • Size: 50ml - 1.7 fl. oz.
  • Price: $14.99
What I think: I really like this one! When I opened it, it didn't look like what I expected. Most moisture masks are either a gel formula or super creamy (more like a lotion). This mask actually  looked like a clay mask in the container. I piled it one my face and left it on for 5 minutes like the package suggests. Then I removed gently with a wet wash cloth. My skin instantly looked smoother and brighter. It definitely felt smoother and more hydrated. I've been using this about twice a week for the past month. When we were in Dallas a couple of weekends ago, I used the morning before we checked out of our hotel. While we were waiting for the elevator, Gabe looks at me and tells me my makeup looks really good. I told him I didn't have any makeup on. After that I was just like ok, this one's a keeper. (the mask AND Gabe) I have said before that I have sensitive skin and a lot of masks irritate my skin because of harsh ingredients and fragrance. I have another soothing moisture mask from a brand that shall not be named that leaves my skin red, blotchy, and feeling like it's on fire. So I'm very apprehensive when it comes to masks. Like most masks, the results only last a couple of days after using. But if you are looking for a moisture boost I highly recommend this product.

Do ya'll have any masks that ya'll love? I'm interested in trying the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask. I'm a little scared it will be to much for my skin though. Have any of you tried that one?
Have a good day ya'll!!

Weekend re-cap

Happy Sunday afternoon! Have ya'll had a good weekend? I definitely have! Friday night we stayed in, cooked dinner, and watched a movie. I'm usually so exhausted  by Friday that all I want to do is put on my comfy clothes and curl up on the couch. Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast at Panera. Yum! Afterwards we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out the pumpkins we want to carve! I was so excited! I love all of the cliche fall activities :) After the pumpkin patch we came home to watch the Arkansas v. Auburn game. I don't even want to talk about that one. There were some BAD calls made during that game. It was very frustrating. Ugh! Anyway, moving on from that... after the game we got ready and Gabe took me out on a date. He knew I was so upset after the game there were major tears shed on my part so he took me to a nice dinner to get my mind off it. My date night outfit:
Jeans: Seven for All Mankind- Dojo, Shirt- The Limited, Jacket- Express

We rented a few movies after dinner and settled in with a bottle of wine. Today we slept in and did some grocery shopping. We're so exciting, I know! :) But it was the perfect weekend. I enjoy these relaxing, boring weekends so much more than busy ones. I'm on fall break this week so no school for me! But that just means I get to work more. Is there no end to this?!?!

A few other random tidbits:
- I ordered my cap and gown for graduation  last Thursday!! Two months until my college career is finally over!! (for now that is. Grad school maybe?)
- I already love Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! What did ya'll think? Kyle Richards is my favorite so far. Can I please have her hair?!
- I really wish we had some real fall weather going on here. The highs are still in the mid to upper 80s and I'm sick of it!
- I have class with a girl who wears massive bows on her head. Like a jumbo version of what babies wear. I'm considering taking a secret picture of these bows every day so ya'll can laugh with me about this. I seriously don't understand why any grown woman would do that.

That's it for today! I have a pile of laundry that needs my attention. Have a good Sunday evening!

Chanel Mascara- A Review

Happy Wednesday!! We're halfway through the week! No Wedding Wednesday today. Instead I wanted to tell ya'll about the mascara I bought this weekend. My usual mascara brands include Christian Dior, Benefit Bad Gal Lash, and every now and then Cover Girl Lash Blast. I was in Nordstrom on Friday and decided to try something new so I went to the Chanel Counter. After talking to the person behind the counter about my mascara needs, I decided on Chanel Inimitable Intense
What they say:
"This technologically advanced formula builds on the success of the original mascara, delivering dramatic effects with a unique brush. The result is a more intense lash look, with the same easy application. Lashes appear longer, thicker and more curled, yet each lash, even the finest, is still precisely separated – without clumping, spiking or flaking"

My thoughts: I love this! The brush was a little different than what I'm used to so I was scared at first. But after I got it on I was very pleased with the results. My lashes looked fuller and definitely longer! It's pretty buildable so I was able to really pile it on for a night out, but it can look very natural with just one coat for daytime. And so far my sensitive eyes have had no problem with it. (keep your fingers crossed!) I would definitely recommend this product. It costs around $30.00

Anyway, I'm spending the rest of my day working on a huge project that's due tomorrow. If anyone is in the Conway area tomorrow from 2-4, feel free to come by UCA and listen to me talk about foodborne illness. Exciting huh? It's really not. Wish me luck though!

Have a good day ya'll!!

Celeb Hair Envy

I've always been a fan of these ladies hair. Lets also add Lauren Conrad to that list.

So I got my hair done yesterday and I'm feeling much better about myself :) Isn't it crazy how something as simple as getting your highlights touched up and cutting an inch off your hair can totally change your mood?
Have a good Tuesday ya'll!!

Weekend in Dallas! Go Hogs!!

So this weekend we headed to Dallas to watch the Hogs take on Texas A&M at Cowboys stadium. We left early Friday morning so we could have some time to shop that afternoon. Not much luck shopping. Gabe and I both found a few things at JCrew but that was about it. I did get some new mascara though! Review coming soon! Saturday we headed to Arlington  for the game. Traffic was terrible!!!! But once we got to Jerry's World we had so much fun!

My sister, me, and Gabe
Excuse the terrible lighting in this picture!
Anyway, the Hogs won!! We didn't play as well as we should have and the score got a little too close for comfort, but it was a win regardless! Next week we take on Auburn and I'm not gonna lie, I'm scared to death!

I hope ya'll had a good weekend!! I'm getting my hair done tomorrow! I'm excited because I've gone 8 weeks without getting it done and that is WAY to long for me.

Halloween in Black and White

Love these black and white Halloween ideas. I have already decided that next year I'm going to take a break from all of the orange, brown, and red.

I'm off to Dallas for the weekend. The Hogs are playing at Cowboy stadium against Texas A&M on Saturday. I can't wait! We're getting there a little early to do some shopping. Have a good weekend ya'll!

Wedding Wednesday- dresses

So over the past few months I've been researching wedding dresses that would fit with my beach wedding. Obviously I need something that's casual, but still elegant. I have been amazed at how many stores that I shop at regularly, have started carrying wedding dresses. The one's I've seen from White House Black Market, JCrew, and BCBG would be perfect for my little beach wedding.

BCBG

White House Black Market

I haven't actually gone to try on any dresses yet so I have no clue how dresses from these stores actually present themselves in person. I'm hoping to start the search for the perfect dress in the next few weeks. If I ever have a free weekend. So what do ya'll think? Would you buy a dress from one of these stores? If you have heard anything good or bad about buying from JCrew, White House Black Market, or BCBG let me know!

Add to your grocery list asap!

I usually don't buy creamer for my coffee due to the fat and calorie content, but omg this stuff is amazing! I bought it on a whim last night and treated myself to a special cup of coffee this morning. Yum! It doesn't beat Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's but it's a nice at home alternative. Go buy it. Right now. :)
Have a good Tuesday ya'll!

Recent Drugstore Finds....

Happy Monday night! Only four more days to go til the weekend! :)  Yes I'm using exaggerated cheerfulness to make Monday seem a little better.  Did any of you catch Gossip Girl tonight?

Anyway so you all know by now I'm obsessed with beauty products. And the ones I love most are the cheap thrills you can find at Target or Wal-Mart. So of course I have some new products to add to your grocery list. You're welcome :)

First up: Jergens Overnight Repair Nightly Restoring Moisturizer
What they say: "Repairs a week’s worth of damage in one night, for visibly smoother skin the next morning.

Made with a rich blend of antioxidant vitamins and pure evening primrose extract, Jergens® Overnight Repair Nightly Restoring Moisturizer repairs and rejuvenates skin overnight so you can sleep beautifully and wake up to smoother, healthier-looking, revived skin—every morning."

-Love this stuff. I picked it up about two weeks ago and thought it would be perfect for me since I had been having some dry skin issues. It's very moisturizing without being sticky or  heavy. It soaks right in so you don't go to bed feeling greased up. The first morning after trying this I noticed how soft my skin was! I use moisturizer every night but this lotion truly made a difference. Two weeks later, I'm a believer.  Can't live without it and since it's under $10 I don't feel guilty.

Next up:
Burt's Bees Radiance Serum
What they say:

How it Works

"Get a more radiant complexion in just 4 weeks! This clinically tested serum combines royal jelly, licorice root extract and glycerin to bring out skin’s natural radiance. These ingredients increase moisturization by 15% in only 2 weeks, while nourishing skin with 134 nutrients including vitamins A, C, D and K, minerals and 17 amino acids. In 4 weeks, you’ll notice your skin becoming more even toned. The result is more radiant beautiful looking skin, naturally.

How to Use It

Use daily after cleansing. Gently pat and smooth a small amount directly around your eyes, mouth and forehead.
Royal Jelly

Featured Ingredient

Royal Jelly — Very nourishing, royal jelly is made of nectar, pollen, flower parts, vitamins, minerals, and other natural ingredients. It is a very precious, mysterious substance that honeybees produce for the queen bee."

-This actually isn't a super new product for me. I started using it about a year ago on and off because I was looking for something to go that extra mile when it came to keeping the skin on my face moisturized and looking healthy. I love this. It's so light and it sinks right in. It's not oily at all, which is sometimes the problem with serums. My face always looks smoother and plumped up when I'm using this. I'm actually back to using this full time because I've seen what a difference it can make.  The smell isn't too great (to me anyway) but since it sinks in so fast I don't notice it for very long. The only downside to this is that the bottle is tiny and gets used up pretty quickly. It costs about $18 which isn't too bad to me when it comes to a product like this. I just wish the bottle was a little larger. Anywho, I would recommend this for any skin type and especially for those with sensitive skin.

And that's actually it for me tonight. It is way past my bedtime right now! Why am I such an old lady now? I do have some wedding updates for ya'll coming soon! Maybe my first Wedding Wednesday post will be this week?
