Kaley, why is your wedding on a Thursday?

Ah, the question that never seems to end. I've had quite a few people ask me this, so let me explain...

As you probably know by now, we are doing a destination wedding. When most people book condos or house's for a week, they book Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. This isn't really a very friendly schedule for a wedding if you are wanting to do it on a Saturday. Since everyone will be there for the week, we knew we could just pick a day during the week to have the wedding. So the next question is what day? Well Monday is July 4th so that was out. Tuesday the 5th is my mom and step-dad's b-day, didn't want to do it then. So really that left Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th. Hmmm....

To be honest, I just preferred how 7/7/11 sounded. :) So that is how our Thursday wedding was born.

Now that day is exactly one week from today! I remember thinking how far away it sounded when we booked everything. 200 days, 150 days, 100 days, 75 days... Then it got to be 2 months, 1 month, 3 weeks, 2 weeks, and now 1 little week. OMG. I'm not nervous about my marriage to Gabe. Not at all. But, I am extremely nervous about everything going right the day of. It doesn't help when you look at the 10 day forecast and see that the day of your outdoor beach wedding has a 60% chance of rain. I'm just having to trust that everything will work out. Today, I'm busy getting everything together for our trip, finalizing details with all of the vendors, and doing laundry. Say a little prayer that I can get everything together!

I may not blog very much (if at all) during the next week or so. We're leaving for the beach tomorrow, so things are a little hectic! I will try to schedule a post or two if I can though. If not, then the next time you will here from me, I'll be a Mrs.!!

Wish us luck!

Drug Store Beauty- Deal or Dud?

So I've decided to do a new type of beauty review around here. Once a month I will do a post exclusively on beauty items found at your local drug store. I will let you know if these products are deals or duds. So let's get this edition started! First up:

Dove Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner
Product Description:
Dual-action formulation: For 3X the nourishing power of our regular conditioner.
White Stripe–Contains conditioner that seals cuticles to lock in nutrients and smooth frizz.
Gold Stripe–With Weightless Nutri-Oils, deeply nourishes and replenishes essential nutrients without a greasy feel.
Instant deep nourishing power of a treatment in the time of a conditioner for amazing smoothness, softness and shine. (via Dove.us)

The Verdict:
When searching for a deep conditioner, I always look for two things: 1) It can't strip my hair color. 2) It can't leave my hair with a greasy film. This product aces both of my requirements. It leaves my hair feeling so soft and smooth, yet not weighed down. Using it a few times a week over the last month and a half has left my hair in significantly better condition. I also love the clean, fresh scent! At under $6.00 a bottle, I call this one a DEAL!!

Next we have:
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyelid Primer
First off, let me just say that this product only cost $1.00. I've always liked playing around with e.l.f. Cosmetics because you can actually find some real gems in the $1 make-up brand. This eyelid primer, however, was not one of those gems. I think it actually made my eye shadow crease more! DUD! Save your dollar or try one of the brands lip gloss's. They are a much better buy! I think I'll stick with the Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion.

Last but not least:
EcoTools Make-up Brushes
Details:
"Brushes feature bamboo handles, recycled aluminum ferrules and incredibly soft, cruelty-free bristles."
(via ecotools.com)

I think that these are some of the best brushes out there. This is all I will use and I swear by them. They are incredibly soft, don't shed, hold up over time, and are very inexpensive for the great quality that you get. Price's vary, but most of the brushes are under $10.00 and the best value is to buy one of set's like the one above. My favorite brushes include: the foundation brush, blush brush, all eye shadow brush's, and the kabuki brush. I highly recommend this product! DEAL!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday! Wedding countdown is at 10 days!!! Yay!

I Finally Gave In...

And bought the Urban Decay Naked Palette

And yes it is as fabulous as everyone says it is. I think this is probably one of the best eye shadow palette's I have ever purchased. I plan on using some of the lighter colors for my wedding makeup. My fav colors are Sin, Sidecar, and Half Baked. I also can't say enough good things about the eye shadow primer that comes with it. It keeps your shadow from creasing and keeps it on all day long. So go forth and purchase this amazing creation. You will be glad you did!

I'm wishing I would have had this dress for one of my showers!

I love the sweet pink color

Have a good Saturday afternoon ya'll!

Sunday's Bridal Shower

Happy Thursday!! I hope everyone has had a good week! I've been finalizing all of the last minute details with the wedding. It's crazy how many little things there are to do. Finalize menu... check! Finalize flowers... check! And so on and so forth. Anyway, I wanted to show ya'll a few of the pictures from the shower my friends and my mother's friends threw me last Sunday.

Loved the cake!

With Gabe's mom, my Step-mom, and my Mom

My Nonnie has purchased a Christmas ornament for me every year since I was born. She gave them all to me at the shower. Probably one of the most meaningful gifts I've ever received!

Emma loved helping me open gifts!

I'm hoping to have the rest of the pictures soon!  Most of the good ones are on my friend Summer's camera.

Have a good afternoon ya'll!

Friday Catch Up

Happy Friday!! I hope everyone had a good week! Today is a bullet point kind of day for me:

  • I'm done substitute teaching! I have almost  5 weeks until my new job starts, so I'm just finishing up wedding planning, playing with all of our wedding gifts, and enjoying what is sure to be my last summer break for a long time.
  • We have had some wonderful showers in the last two weeks. June 1st was the shower at my step-mom's school. The teachers and office staff were so sweet to throw me the shower and definitely spoiled us with wonderful gifts!
With my little sister aka my MOH

It can be super awkward opening gifts in front of a lot of people!

June 5th was our shower at my Mom and Step-dad's church in Searcy. The women of St. Paul United Methodist gave us the most wonderful shower and I was thrilled with how many people came. I'm missing the pictures from my Mom's camera and I only have the one's from my Step-mom. I'll download the others as soon as I get them!

Showing off my new apron!

  • Our last shower is this Sunday. I can't wait to see all of my friends from college!
  • Tonight we're going to a couples baby shower at the Clinton Center in downtown Little Rock. I absolutely love the downtown area. Especially in the Summer!
  • Today is my little brother's 12th Birthday!! Happy Birthday Chase! We're celebrating tomorrow with a pool party at my parents house.
  •  I'm looking for any organizational advice from all of the married girls! We are so overwhelmed with what to do with all of the gifts we have received! We live in a small apartment for the time being and storage space is low!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Wedding Wednesday- The Shoes!

I only have a few Wedding Wednesday's left before the big day! Since I can't show you my dress yet, I at least want to show you the shoes! Since the ceremony is on the beach, I'll be barefoot for that part. The reception is on the veranda at the Beach Club so obviously I wanted some fabulous shoes to put on!

KORS Michael Kors Sasha Sandal
I decided on these gorgeous, gold Michael Kors sandals. They really fit with the look of my dress and the beach-y feel. It's a major plus that I can actually wear these shoes again after the wedding! I'm in love!
