Weekend Re-cap : Homecoming Weekend!

Hey ya'll! I hope everyone has had a great weekend! This weekend was our alma mater's homecoming and our schedule was jam packed with alumni events. I didn't get many pictures, but we had so much fun!

At Gabe's fraternity alumni banquet. I love these girls! It's funny how I met some of my best friends through Gabe's fraternity.

At the Homecoming game with Christine and Catherine!

Of course we had to eat Mexican food after the game!

Christine was serenaded at dinner!

I wish I had taken more pictures! It was seriously such a great weekend. I was almost in tears when I had to say goodbye to Catherine and Christine. (they both moved away after graduation)

Today has just been a lazy day for me. The hubby is playing golf with his dad, so I have just curled up on the couch to watch movies and got a little housework done. I can't believe how fast this weekend went!

Have a great afternoon ya'll!

Favorite Halloween Movies

October is seriously one of my favorite months of the year. I love everything about it, including curling up with my Hubby to watch Halloween movies! Here are some of my all time favs:

The Shining
By far one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen. It get's me everytime!

Hocus Pocus
This is one of my absolute favorite movies ever! I am not ashamed to say that I own this on VHS and DVD.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
I am a huge Tim Burton fan and this is probably my favorite out of all of his movies. I actually have the theme song "This is Halloween" on my ipod. Yeah...

The original Halloween
Who doesn't love this classic? I'm usually not a fan of gory movies but this one is a must watch every year.

Poltergeist
"They're here..." This movie is the reason why I'm afraid everywhere I live is on an ancient Indian burial
ground.

Halloweentown
Ok, you can think I'm a loser for putting this movie on my list, but it seriously just makes me so nostalgic for my childhood! I made Gabe watch it the other night and he moaned and groaned the entire time. Haha the things my husband puts up with....

The Skeleton Key
LOVE this Kate Hudson movie. I have always loved New Orleans and the culture. And Voodoo is just plain scary!

Lets Talk About Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy....

Growing up in the South, biscuits and chocolate gravy were (and still are) a staple at breakfast. Especially at my Nonnies house. I honestly never knew it was a Southern thing until I met my husband. (his family is from Iowa) Gabe thought I was crazy the first time I made it for him! It quickly became one of his favorite breakfasts though. Lately, I have seen a couple of recipes floating around on Pinterest. Well, today, I'm going to share my Nonnie's chocolate gravy recipe with you. This is the one that I grew up with. You can make it on the stove or in the microwave. Whatever tickles your fancy.

You need:
1 c sugar
1 T flour
3 T cocoa
1 c milk
2 T butter
1 t vanilla

Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa. Stir in milk. Cook in microwave or on stove until thickend. Add butter and vanilla. Serve over hot, buttered biscuits. Enjoy!

*To be honest I make my biscuits using Bisquick. Don't judge!*

So tell me, did any of ya'll grow up eating biscuits and chocolate gravy? If so, share your recipe!

Random Thoughts....

  • I have been super busy lately. Lame excuse, I know, but life has just taken over.
  • It was cold here for like two day last week and it reminded me how much I hate winter. I'm dreading it!
  • I attended a fashion show at the local country club a few nights ago and had such a fun time with my girlfriends!
With my lovely ladies!
  • We haven't carved our pumpkins yet and I'm looking for inspiration. Last year we did Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas on our big pumpkin. Any fun ideas?
  • My obsession with Pinterest is getting out of control. I wonder if I'll ever find time to actually make any of the items and recipes that I've pinned?
  • It is impossible to get Pumpkin Spice Latte out of a white shirt. It's also really embarrassing to have to walk around with orange coffee all over said white shirt for an entire day.
  • I had some lowlights put in my hair a couple weeks ago. I'm loving it and hopefully the maintenance will be much easier!
  • I have not bought any clothing items the entire month of October. My spending habits are finally getting under control. Yay me!
Have a good Monday afternoon ya'll!

Weekend Re-cap: Go Hogs!

Hey ya'll! Hope everyone is having a good Sunday! We went to Fayetteville this weekend for the Arkansas vs. Auburn game. And what a game it was!  The Hogs kicked Auburn's tail with a score of 38-14. It was seriously such a good game!

We got up early this morning and drove home. Today, I plan on catching up on some much needed house cleaning and laundry. I also have a DVR full of shows I need to watch!

Have a great Sunday ya'll!!

I've been using this at night for the past month and it's amazing! I knew I needed to switch to something a little heavier for the fall/winter months and this is perfect. I'll do a full review soon.

Things Don't Always Go As Planned

Hey ya'll! Hope everyone is having a fabulous Thursday! My goodness this has been a busy week! Remember how I told ya'll last week that we had another wedding to go to last weekend? Well life stepped in and threw us a few curve balls and we had a change of plans. Last Wednesday night Gabe got the call that his uncle had suddenly passed away. So we had to make quick plans to get to Iowa over the weekend to see his family and go to the funeral. We were still able to make it to my sister's homecoming Friday night though. I'll have some pictures of that at the end of this post. We headed to Iowa bright and early Saturday morning. It's an 11 hour drive from central AR to north Iowa. After the funeral Monday we had to drive back immediately because my mom had surgery Monday morning. She's fine. She hurt her shoulder before the wedding and had to have it repaired. I was able to get home to see her yesterday. While also home yesterday we found out my little sister had to have surgery TODAY! I told you things have been crazy around here. I'm still waiting to hear and update about my sister so say a little prayer please. Anyway here are some pictures from Abby's homecoming:

She looks so thrilled

She's so pretty!

Yes my little sister is that much taller than me. I'm 6 years older by the way!

I used to babysit this little girl and she was at the homecoming game with a DATE! Oh my.

Here's hoping the next few weeks are very un-eventful.

*Update*- Little Sister's surgery went well! She's recovering as we speak.
