In search of motivation....

Sorry for my lack of blogging. My mind has been consumed by the big move. I'll re-cap the last few days.
We had a wonderful weekend and made our first lake trip of the summer. Saturday we had perfect weather and the lake was just what I needed to get my mind off packing. I never take my camera to the lake because I'm paranoid I'll drop it in, so no pictures for ya'll. Sunday, we slept in and then went to brunch. Gabe had a soccer game that afternoon, so I worked on my senior portfolio while he was gone. Yesterday, after Gabe left work, we went to buy a new comforter and get some boxes to start packing up the kitchen. (my least favorite part). After dinner, we were bored and trying to avoid packing so we went bowling! We were literally the only people there. It was so much fun though and very random. Today I'm just hanging out at the apartment putting off packing and working on my portfolio. It's so hot outside right now that I'm having a hard time getting myself to leave the apartment. Yesterday the heat index was 102! Ugh! Miserable. But I have tons of things on my to do list so I need to get motivated!

So I've pretty much given up on reading Heart of the Matter. It's too depressing. If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about.

Well, any tips on making this move easier? I wish I could just go away for a few days and come back to my new apartment with everything unpacked. I think I dread it so much because I hate chaos and things not being in their place. I'm a very organized person so it just kills me to have things messed up. Anyway, hope everyone is having a great day!

Random Friday

1. First off, how about that Grey's Anatomy season finale last night?! I was freaking out the entire two hours! There weren't any major cliff hangers, but I still have some questions. Such as:
Do we know if anything happened to Bailey's boyfriend?
Will Chief Webber take over as acting Chief again while Derek is recovering?
Did Meredeth really have a miscarriage?
Will Christina and Owen work it out?
Lexie cannot choose Alex, she needs to be with Mark.
I think I may be way to involved in this show. But honestly ya'll, I have watched every single episode.
2. I spent Wednesday and Thursday in my home town relaxing and visiting my grandparents. It was heaven!
3. I had a facial Wednesday morning and it was absolutely amazing. I'm thinking that is going to have to become part of my beauty routine.
4. This weekend will be spent packing for the big move. We had some stress this week because we thought Gabe would have to go to Boston to meet with a client on the same day we were supposed to move. He has managed to get some things moved around so as far as we know he will be here on moving day.
5. I really really don't want to start summer school. I'm getting way to used to this whole summer break thing.
6. Less than a week until Sex and the City 2!!

Happy Friday ya'll!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Recent Drugstore Finds- Mascara

So last week I decided to accompany Gabe on a little business trip to have some contracts signed by a client of his. He was meeting the guy in Missouri and I figured a day trip could be fun. He set up the meeting in this small town and I told him he could just drop me at Wal-Mart and I would find something to do to entertain me. (When I signed on for this little business trip, I didn't know the town was so small) So of course I go straight to the cosmetics and begin searching for little treasures. I found a good one!!
If you like DiorShow Mascara

Try Cover Girl LashBlast Fusion.

I love this mascara! It seriously works just as well as the DiorShow and is half the cost. It has a very buildable formula that creates some serious volume and length. A few months ago I bought the DiorShow Extase mascara and hated it. So I went back to the original DiorShow. Then I realized that in one month I had spent over $50 on mascara and thought that was ridiculous. I am still in school after all and very unemployed. I would rather spend my money on things like shoes. :) So if you're in the market for a great, more affordable mascara I highly recommend this. It does have a weird brush that kind of freaked me out at first. But once you get passed that, it's wonderful.
Hope ya'll have a wonderful hump day. I have a lovely day planned that I'm really looking forward to. I have an appointment for a facial this morning and lunch scheduled with my grandparents. Then I'm going shopping for sheets for the new bed with my mom :) Oh and Gabe and I sign the lease for the new apartment tomorrow! Only one more week left in this apartment. I can't wait to move to a bigger place!

Book Review- The Carrie Diaries

So I finally finished The Carrie Diaries last night. It took me just under two weeks to read and it honestly shouldn't have taken me that long because this book doesn't have much substance. It took me two weeks because I had such a hard time getting into it that I would put it down for days and have to will myself to pick it up. I. Did. Not. Like. This. Book. And I hate that because I love Candace Bushnell and Sex and the City. This book had to much high school drama for me. I should have seen that coming since it's set when Carrie is in high school. I would have much rather read about Carrie post high school and her first year in New York or Carrie and the girls in their early to mid 20s trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives. I give this book a D+. Have any of ya'll read this book? What did you think?

My next book is Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin. I have LOVED her other four books so I'm pretty excited about this one. I've only read a few chapters so far but I think I won't be disappointed.
Hope everyone is having a great week so far! I have a date with Gabe tonight at our favorite Cajun restaurant. :) Oh and did anyone catch the season finales of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill last night? I was left with a big WTF at the end of both! I hate when they leave you hanging until fall.

Summer break makes me a bad blogger.

So apparently having no structure in my life makes me forget to blog. I thought when I was done with finals I would have all of this time to blog and come up with some great posts. Wrong! I've been just as busy since getting out of school. So here's a list catching you up on my life:
1. My hair is now more brown than blonde. I love being a blonde but since I quit living in a tanning bed, the super blonde hair made me look washed out. I'm enjoying the more low maintenance color. And I think it makes my skin look better.
2. I never found a new dress to wear to Gabe's sis's graduation, so I wore the same dress I wore for Easter. It worked out just fine.
3. Gabe had a ton of extended family in town from Iowa (that's where his fam is originally from) so our weekend was spent visiting them.
4. I haven't had very much lay by the pool weather. I'm hoping mother nature delivers some this week for me. I only have until June 7th to enjoy my summer vacation.
5. We move to our new apartment next week!! Have I started packing? Of course not! I also haven't found any new bedding for the new king size bed yet either. Time to get this ball rolling!
6. I just found out one of my favorite new shows, Flash Forward, is getting cancelled :(
7. I love being a southern woman who appreciates big hair. I spent the weekend with a bunch of Midwestern women from Iowa, who were as sweet as can be and beautiful, but had very flat hair. And I think they wanted it that way! I believe everyone looks better when their hair has a little lift. :) But maybe that's just me.
8. I'm relieved that Gabe and I didn't book a trip to Gulf Shores this summer because who knows what the beaches will look like with this oil spill.
9. I bought a few new makeup items last week that I will be reviewing for yall in the days to come.
10. So I'm thinking of switching from a PC to a Mac. Any opinions on that? I'm so tired of all the problems I've been having with my computer lately. I would love to hear what ya'll use.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Currently lusting over...

These lovely Jimmy Choo's :

Sadly my unemployed, college student bank account won't allow for them. *Sigh*
In other news:
1. I still haven't found a dress to wear to Gabe's sister's graduation on Friday. I'm starting to stress.
2. Residents of central Arkansas will be happy to know that it's rumored Little Rock is finally getting an Anthropologie. Oh please oh please let this be true! Location? The Promenade at Chanal...
3. I'm getting my hair done Thursday. I have no clue what I want. I've been in a hair rut for the past 6 months. So send any ideas my way! I'm trying to keep it long because I always regret cutting it short.
4. Terri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) has launched her own lifestyle website called GetHatched--A Chick's Guide to Life. I'm still checking it out. But so far it seems to be a little (ok a lot) more down to earth than Gweneth Paltrow's GOOP.

That's it for me today. Hope ya'll are having a great Tuesday!

Celebrity Style- Kelly Rippa

Since I've been home during the day lately, I've been watching a lot of TV. Every time I turn on Regis and Kelly, I am in awe of Kelly Rippa's style. She always looks classy and chic:

Dear Kelly Rippa,
We look to be about the same size so feel free to send me anything in your closet you're ready to get rid of. I will gladly take it off your hands.
Thank you very much,
Kaley

Happy Cinco de Mayo AND my first day of Summer break!

So... I'm done with school for a whole stress free month!!! I slept until 11 this morning! I didn't even know that was possible for me anymore. I've been catching up on life today. Doing laundry, cleaning my neglected apartment, getting a good workout in, and starting a new book! I picked up The Carrie Diaries the new Candace Bushnell book last week and then I hid it from myself so I wouldn't read it instead of studying. :)

I'll let ya'll know how I like it when I get finished. I'm thinking it will make for some perfect poolside reading!

So during finals, I wasn't getting much sleep and looked pretty frightful at times. I managed to make myself at least look alive with the help of a few of my favorite things that I've blogged about before.

I love my Neutrogena eye brightener. It makes me look like I've gotten at least some sleep!

Nars bronzer. When I'm tired I look paler than usual so it's critical that I don't skimp on the bronzer.

And of course Jergens Natural Glow. Everyone looks better with a bit of a tan. Even when they are sleep deprived and living in yoga pants and tshirts :)

Anyway, tonight I'm hoping to head to my favorite Mexican restaurant with some friends to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a big margarita. :) And tomorrow I have a day of shopping planned with my friend Catherine. It's our tradition that as soon as finals are over we go treat ourselves. I'm trying to catch up on everyone's blogs today and I'm looking forward to being able to actually bring ya'll some good posts soon. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Tornado's and finals don't go together.

Wow! What a weekend! We had lots of excitement here in central AR thanks to mother nature. Let me start from the beginning... Friday was dead day, so I didn't have school. But I did have to take a test online. A certain teacher of mine doesn't believe in days off. I had until 11 pm to take my test so of course I put it off while I had a lazy morning. It looked totally gross outside and I would have been a-ok staying in my pj's all day. But Gabe took off work early and came home around noon and wanted to run errands. So we got some things done and decided that due to the weather it probably wouldn't be a good idea to go to Little Rock for dinner as originally planned. We went and got some groceries and rented a movie and headed home. I took my online test and then started on dinner. Well that's when all the storms started popping up so we settled in for a yucky night and kept an eye on the weather. Things didn't get to bad for us that night so we were lucky. Saturday we got up and it was nice out so we went to Starbucks then headed to Gabe's parents house in Heber (about 45 from Conway) to clean the boat and get everything ready for lake weekends. It was sunny and nice all day. Around 6:30 we started heading back home and it started to rain as soon as we pulled out of his parents driveway. Now I'm thinking to myself wow we're so lucky that the rain held off until we were done. I hadn't checked the weather all day or anything. 15 min later we're in a tornado warning!! The storm was heading right for Conway so we were driving straight into it. Omg I was freaking out. I hate tornado's more than anything. We drove right towards a wall cloud the entire ride home. We stopped right outside of Conway at a friends house when the sirens started going off and they said there was rotation. I spent the next hour in a closet with a magazine and a beer riding out the storm while my super smart boyfriend and his friend stood in the driveway looking at the sky. Needless to say I was slightly annoyed with Gabe for this. The storm passed and everyone was ok, thank goodness!! I didn't get any pictures of the funnel cloud because I was hiding, but apparently the rest of the town of Conway did.

I took this pic from my friend Kelli's facebook. This is the scary cloud right over my apartment complex! This is what we were seeing when we stopped at our friends house.
I actually found this one on TodaysTHV website. This is on our side of town! Yikes!

We were very lucky! Sadly not everywhere in the state was though. It was quite a scary weekend and needless to say I didn't get much studying done. But I only have two finals left! As of this time tomorrow, I will be on Summer vacation. (for a month) And I promise to actually have some good posts soon! I hope everyone else had a nice, tornado free weekend!
