So I Have Some Important News...

I'm engaged!! Gabe proposed yesterday morning on my birthday! He woke me up really early that morning and had made me my favorite breakfast. (chocolate chip pancakes and mimosas!) Then he told me to get dressed for being outdoors and off we went! I had no clue where we were driving and it was making me crazy. He took a different way to Heber (his hometown) to throw me off. When we got there he told me he was taking me to some of his favorite trails. It was hot and the trail was kind of overgrown so I was actually complaining quite a bit.

Me on the way up! I had no clue what was coming!

At one point he told me to go ahead of him...
We got to the top and I was taking pictures of the view from the overlook. He came up behind me and put his arms around me and told me how much he loved me. I laughed and told him I loved him too. Then I looked down and in his hand was the ring box! I start crying and he starts saying all of this sweet stuff. He turns me around and gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. I said yes of course!!

After I said yes!

Showing off my ring!

We stayed up there talking for about 15 minutes. We were lucky when some other hikers got up there and were able to take a picture of us.

We kept hiking for about an hour to have some alone time before the chaos of calling and telling everybody began...

I am so excited!!! That night, we had dinner with my dad, step-mom, memo, aunt, and uncle. We had a little more than my birthday to celebrate and they were all very excited for us. We had an amazing dinner and a few bottles of champagne. My dad toasted Gabe and me and I seriously almost lost it!

Showing off the ring some more!

For some reason we couldn't get a normal picture of the family that night.

Today we went to my mom's house in Searcy for lunch and to tell them all about it. I'm exhausted now! We're home finally getting some peace and quiet and it's all starting to sink in now. I'm so happy!!! There just aren't words to describe it.
Anyway I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend!!

23 Candles

So tomorrow is my 23rd birthday. 23 years old. It sounds weird to say. It seems like just yesterday I was waiting to turn 16,18, and 21. Birthday's are now more low key and filled with more self evaluation. It's the time of year that I take a good hard look at my life. This year I'm pretty excited about 23. There are so many things to look forward to this year. Graduation, finding a big girl job, maybe buying a new car... I'm genuinely excited. But there have also been a few setbacks with this up coming birthday. I had to renew my drivers license and get a new picture taken. Goodbye 18 year old picture and hello 23! It was kind of painful for me to give up that picture. I know that sounds silly but I've always loved that drivers license pic.

Anyway, today I got out of class early and treated myself to a pre birthday mani/pedi. Tonight Gabe is taking me out for a nice, quiet dinner at Capers. Tomorrow he has some secret plans for me during the day and then we're meeting my dad and step mom for dinner. So I'm thinking this will shape up to be a pretty good weekend!

I hope ya'll have a fabulous weekend!

Ridiculous

Today it is absolutely grossly hot outside. The actual temp in Conway right now at 2:50 pm is 106 degrees. (for the non-Arkansans, Conway is a little north of Little Rock.)

The heat index is much worse. The sign at the bank on my way home from class said 112 degrees. Ugh!

I can't handle this. I'm melting. Literally.
On a brighter note, Rachel Zoe Project starts back up tonight!! I will be at home drinking a glass of champagne while I watch.
Hope Tuesday is treating ya'll well!

Weekend re-cap

So I'm still recovering from the weekend. Let's re-cap shall we... Friday afternoon Gabe took off work early and we hit the road. We pulled into Memphis and checked in to our hotel downtown.
After the rest of our group arrived we went down to Beale St. to eat dinner at BB Kings and go to our favorite bar, Silky O'Sulivans. We had a very fun night and I only took a few pics. Please excuse the terrible IPhone quality pictures.

It was HOT out, even late at night. We didn't look our best needless to say. And can someone tell me why I wore jeans? I haven't worn jeans in months but for some reason I felt the need to wear them Friday night.
Saturday, we went to Tunica MS to go to the casinos and eat at Paula Deens. Very successful day at the casino for Gabe and me :) Then we went booked it back to Arkansas for my friends one year anniversary celebration. Good times with old friends.
Sunday we were exhausted and layed around all day. And today it was back to the real world. Why do weekends go by so fast? :(
In other news, it's my birthday week!! Yes, I celebrate for an entire week :) Gabe has some surprise activities planned for me this weekend and I'm very curious to find out what they are. Not knowing what is going on drives me crazy!
Anyway I hope ya'll had a good Monday!

Fall Fashion That Won't Break the Bank

I'm sure by now I've made it clear that I wish it was fall. I'm tired of the heat and so over my summer clothes. I've been browsing lately for some fall clothes that are within my budget. How wonderful does dark skinny jeans with a super soft cardigan sound to ya'll? Ugh! I'm dying here! I tried to wear jeans to class today and almost passed out on my 4 min. walk from my car to class. And it was only 9 am. By the time I got back to my apartment around 1 today I was feeling anything but attractive. So without further ado, the start of my fall wishlist. I'm sure I will be adding to it over the next few months :)

I'm loving this adorable lightweight trench from Victoria Secret. What I love even more is the price tag. Only $68.00. Perfect for rainy, cool fall days.
This lightweight navy blue dress from BCBGMAXAZRIA is on sale at Nordstroms for $149.90. Marked down from $228.00. I think it's the perfect transition piece. Wear now as it is and throw a cardigan over it in the fall. In Arkansas you could probably get away without wearing anything over it until mid-October.

Anthropologie black cardigan. $98. It's a classic.

Since we can still get away with wearing short sleeves during fall in the south, I love finding tops that are dressed up and come in a fall/winter color. I would love to wear this Anthropologie top with jeans and heels to class or a casual night out. $78.00

This navy blue blazer from Ruche would look great with skinny jeans and a tank. Only $44.99!

Gorgeous scarf from Ruche. $14.99. Doesn't it just scream fall?

Ruche white cotton cardigan. $32.99. It just makes me want to cuddle :)

Hurry up fall! I can smell the pumpkin scented candles and tailgating already. :)
Hope ya'll are having a lovely week. I'm so ready for this weekend!! Hopefully the next two days will fly by!
